FFE JPL Programme

What is the Junior Premier League

The Junior Premier League is a player development focused league, driving innovation and ensuring every player has a premier experience. The league endeavours to be the world’s best provider of competitive opportunities for development and advancement in youth football.

"In the JPL, 1 in 11 players progress into an English Professional academy"

The Junior Premier League are now England's only National league for youth players from U7 to U18 and are the largest league in the country with over 25,000 players.

Playing environment

The JPL endeavours to create an environment where development comes first. All U12 - U16 JPL fixtures take place over four periods of 20 minutes, directly replicating the game time conditions of professional football club academies. In addition to this there is a minimum game time rule – every player selected for a matchday squad must play at least 50% of the game.

Coaching standards

All coaches working in the JPL must be a minimum of Level 2/UEFA C to ensure all players receive the best chance of reaching their individual potential.

Unrivalled player pathways

The league has the prestigious award of being the first league to have a player signed to every professional football club academy in the country! Much more progress into high-level non-professional football and college football both here in the UK and abroad.

By being player focused the retention rate for players staying within the game is 97%. This is because players being coached at a higher level means they develop further and therefore can remain in the game at the highest level possible. Compare this to below 60% nationally and you can see the difference the JPL makes.

Junior Premier League Titles & Cups

Since Future Football Elite joined the Junior Premier League in the 2020/2021 season we have won 2 league titles and 1 league cup.

Why the Junior Premier League

Why the Junior Premier League

With three successful seasons under our belt, through our JPL Academy teams we offer an unrivalled season-long fixture provision that is sure to challenge and develop your game.

Many of our coaching team have experience coaching teams at the Eastern Junior Alliance (EJA) level, and confidently declare that in our experienced professional opinion the JPL offers a superior football experience.

Clubs like Kings Lynn Town, St Neots, and Lowestoft Town all compete across the U12 - U16 age groups within the JPL.

Locally, it's generally considered that EJA offers a pathway into senior football, which whilst true, ultimately limits you to representing just one club. Competing in the JPL provides players and parents with an opportunity to visit many local clubs of the highest calibre in order to, when the time is right, make an educated decision on where the best opportunity for progression into senior football lies for the individual rather than the whole team.

But that's not all! FFE has an exclusive partnership with Diss Town FC. Our players in their U16 season have the chance to represent Diss Town at U18 level in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League, again competing against some of the very best local senior sides including Gorleston Town, Wroxham, Dereham Town, Kirkley & Pakefield and more. Additionally, as they turn 16, players become eligible to represent the club at U23 and 1st team levels. In fact, five players from our current U16 age group have already played 1st team football this season for Diss Town FC.

We have complied a document for you to see the main differences between the JPL and EJA.

FFE allows progression in to senior football through our partnership with Diss Town.

Having coached teams from grassroots all the way through to professional academy teams, I genuinely believe that the Junior Premier League experience provides players with the most well rounded development opportunity available to them outside of the professional game. The unique mix of high level senior clubs including St Neots, Lowestoft & Kings Lynn Town to name a few, ensure that players are challenged tactically and have to use their football IQ as well as technical & athletic attributes to work out how to be successful. Additionally, there are other clubs whereby the game becomes much more competitive, where athleticism, hunger, desire and grit ultimately ensure success.

This is not something that presents itself on a regular basis at many of the other available football opportunities locally.

Junior Premier League Trial Process

Junior Premier League Trial Process

It is our desire to ensure that all players who wish to be considered, have the opportunity to showcase their ability to earn a place with one of our JPL Academy squads. Therefore, we offer a two phase trial process, which is clearly explained below.

Trial 1

This is a 2 hour open trial, where ANY player or goalkeeper can register to attend. Through the session players will work with our experienced coaching team who will evaluate them across many different areas of the game.

The session will include:

  • Warm Up
  • Ball Mastery
  • Possession - Small Spaces, Medium Spaces, Large Spaces
  • Position Specific practices

Following the conclusion of trial 1, a select amount of players will be invited to attend Trial 2. These will be players who through our experience, we believe may have the all round potential to be part of JPL Academy squad.

Trial 2

This 2 hour trial session is an invitation only session for players specifically identified by the FFE lead coaching staff.

Throughout the session players will continue to be evaluated by the Academy Manager & Director of football, who ultimately will make all final decisions on player offers.

This sessions will include:
